PROGRAM DIRECTOR (UW System Title: Administrative Program Specialist) DIVISION OF EQUITY, DIVERSITY, AND INCLUSION University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire

Position Description:

The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire seeks a strong administrator for the position of Program Director for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI). Reporting directly to the Assistant Chancellor for EDI, the Program Director serves as the secondary contact for the EDI Division regarding diversity-related activities and executes a range of efforts to advance institutional initiatives.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the effective operations of the Division.
  • Design, plan, and implement EDI programs, events and special projects as assigned.
  • Compile research and prepare background information for meetings, grants, etc.
  • Nominate the Division and departments for national awards, submit grant applications, etc.
  • Coordinate and/or lead Division committees for a range of initiatives.
  • Research and synthesize EDI best practices and make recommendations.
  • Manage the website and Division communications in collaboration with department heads and Integrated Marketing and Communications.
  • Compile and analyze relevant data from UW-Eau Claire EDI dashboards.
  • Represent the Division on various committees across the institution.
  • Supervise an undergraduate work-study intern.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required

  1. Bachelor’s degree required in higher education administration, counseling, ethnic studies, social justice education or closely related field.
  2. Minimum of three years full-time experience at a college/university in student affairs, multicultural affairs, or a comparable office.
  3. Proven ability to manage multiple projects with complex logistics, including strong event planning and coordination skills.
  4. Sound understanding of concepts associated with equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  5. Technical skills required to complete website updates (training will be provided).
  6. Competency to conduct research, compile and analyze data, and make recommendations according to the findings.
  7. Demonstrated oral/written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to work collaboratively.
  8. Strong work ethic and the availability to work evenings/weekends as needed.

 

Preferred

  1. Master’s degree with theoretical and practical understanding of identity and student development theories, intersectionality, social justice, inclusion, and multiple social identities.
  2. Competency in the design and delivery of diversity and social justice presentations and trainings.
  3. Experience supervising undergraduate students.
  4. Ability to create and manage communication, marketing and social media efforts for the Division.
