APAHE 2022: MOVEMENT API

It matters that Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) voices are heard throughout the many influential spaces that shape our society. From hearing AANHPI stories, seeing AANHPIs as lead actors in Hollywood and more AANHPIs leading our institutions of higher education, we have made some great strides in improving these spaces and even sparking a movement of our own in the last two years.

As we move forward, how can we continue to build on the successes we have accomplished through tough times? Often seen as one of our strengths, resilience within AANHPIs has been likened to bamboo—strong but flexible but how do we move from resilience to action and lead to change?

How can our unbending loyalty to and reverence for higher education persist in an environment that has systematically excluded AANHPIs and our stories from curricula, student services, and leadership opportunities? How do we champion activity and movement designed to effect fundamental change in improving the lives of AANHPIs and how do we transform the ways in which AANHPIs achieve leadership positions within the higher education landscape? How can this change fundamentally improve the way people are educated? How will it enable others to play a more active role in their communities and to prepare them to make the most of their lifelong-learning and leadership opportunities.

How do we start a Movement API?
