Participants may select session option 1 or 2 which is for the entire day, or two sessions (one in a.m. and one in p.m.), or just one session (either a.m. or p.m.)

Flat Rate Preconference Fee (regardless of number of sessions selected) = $150

ALL-DAY SESSIONS: 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

OPTION 1:       AANAPISIs: Honoring the Past, Examining the Present, and Imagining the Future

The purpose of this annual national convening, is to share, inform, and enrich AANAPISI grantees (former and present), eligible AANAPISI institutions, institutions that serve AANHPI students, and community partners about the impact that AANAPISI federal funding has had over the past sixteen years. The program will include plenary sessions regarding the national landscape of AANAPISIs and updates on regional efforts. Breakout sessions include but are not limited to interactive discussions on: How to Write an AANAPISI grant; establishing a New AANAPISI grant; Mental Health Needs on AANAPISI Campuses; Asian American Studies/Culturally Responsive Curriculum Development, Institutionalization, and more. Join us for a day of networking and learning!

OPTION 2:     LDPHE/LEAP Advance Session (FOR ALUMNI ONLY) 

Continued professional development and networking for LDPHE and LEAP Advance alumni.  Further build connections among LEAP participants, further explore opportunities for leadership, and development of skills to successfully advance professionally.

MORNING SESSION: 9:00 a.m. to 12 Noon

OPTION 3:    New to Higher Ed, New to APAHE

This session is designed for individuals who are new to their positions in higher education and/or are new to attending APAHE. Overview of APAHE will be covered. Smaller group discussions will focus on transition issues and strategies for those moving into new positions.

OPTION 4:       Generation Next Student Leader Pre-Conference

Developing the next generation of APAHE Leaders.  Students will receive tips for getting the most out their experience at the APAHE conference, explore barriers for AANHPI student leaders, and begin developing an authentic leadership identity.

AFTERNOON SESSION: 12:15 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

OPTION 5:        Oakland Cultural Tour – lunch provided.

Tour of Oakland focusing on sites with historical and cultural significance.  Engage with communities around Oakland and learn about the rich history of activism and education in the Northern California East Bay.
