Meet the new members of the board of directors!

Jenny Kao is Vice President and Chief of Staff to the President of the University of California system of 10 UC campuses, 6 academic medical centers, and 3 affiliated national laboratories. She serves as UC President Michael V. Drake’s senior-most executive advisor on a wide range of issues, helps develop and execute the University’s policy and strategy agenda, manages crises and issues, mediates disputes and resolves problems, and advances the President’s vision for UC’s role as an engine of social mobility and opportunity in California.


Charles Sasaki began his career as faculty in Ethnic Studies and has since served in senior leadership roles which span the institution – as Chief Diversity Officer, Senior Student Affairs Officer, and Chief Academic Officer. Following thirteen years of service to the University of Hawaii Community Colleges, Sasaki was appointed as the eighth President/Superintendent of Ohlone College in 2023.


Katrina-Ann R. Kapāʻanaokalāokeola Oliveira is Kanaka. She was born on the island of Oʻahu and raised on the islands of Oʻahu and Maui.

Her career at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa began as undergraduate student where she earned dual bachelor’s degrees in Hawaiian Language and Hawaiian Studies, a Graduate Certificate in Conflict Resolution, a master’s degree in Geography, a Master of Business Administration degree, and a doctorate in Geography.
