Judy K. Sakaki became Sonoma State University’s seventh president on July 1, 2016. She has devoted her entire career to issues of inclusion, educational opportunities and achievement for all students. As president she is responsible for envisioning, planning, managing, and delivering policies, programs, and services to ensure access, affordability, and student success for students of Sonoma State University. Her commitment to students, faculty and staff and alumni and the community is paramount to her.

Judy Sakaki previously served as Vice President of Student Affairs, University of California, Office of the President.  Judy was responsible for policies, services and initiatives relating to student access, affordability and success at UC. Previously, Dr. Sakaki also served as Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs at UC Davis and Vice President and Dean of Student Affairs at Fresno State.

Dr. Sakaki earned her Ph.D. at UC Berkeley in Education and both her M.S. in Educational Psychology and B.A. in Human Development from Cal State, Hayward. She has devoted her entire career to issues of inclusion, educational opportunities and achievement for all students

Dr. Sakaki is happily married, the proud mother of two sons and enjoys hiking, watercolor painting and long walks with her dog.
