Continuing our celebration of #AsianPacificAmericanHeritageMonth, we are highlighting another API leader who will be honored on July 18th at the LEAP Leadership Awards Celebration!
Today, the spotlight is on Wyman M. Fong, Vice Chancellor of Human Resources for the Chabot-Las Positas Community College District.
Wyman is responsible for the administration of human resource functions at Chabot-Las Positas, but on top of that, he is an active leader in many different communities.
He was the recipient of the 2015 Award for Progress in Diversity from the Association of California Community College Administrators (ACCCA). In 2016, Wyman was elected to serve on the ACCCA board. He has also served two terms as President of the Association of Chief Human Resource Officers for California Community Colleges, and his efforts and contributions in the field of human resources have been acknowledge by the California State Legislature.
Additionally, Wyman is deeply involved with Asian Pacific Americans in Higher Education (APAHE) and LEAP Advance, which is a long-standing partnership between APAHE and LEAP. The LEAP Advance program’s goal is “to enhance the professional development of Asian and Pacific Islanders working in higher education and to prepare college and university administrators, faculty, and staff to move into leadership positions of greater visibility and influence on their campuses.” Serving on the APAHE board since 2007, and volunteering every year for LEAP Advance for nearly a decade, Wyman is passionate about the individual and collective efforts to support the diverse API community.
