APAHE CONFERENCE 2025: CHOOSING HUMANITY CO-CREATING JOY, JUSTICE, AND LEADERSHIP

The theme for the APAHE 2025 National Conference is Choosing Humanity: Co-Creating Joy, Justice, and Leadership

April 9, 2025: Pre-Conference

April 10–11, 2025: Conference

Marriott Oakland City Center

In a time increasingly divided by challenges and disparities, Choosing Humanity is the intentional act of centering people, community, and culture in our practice as educators and leaders. As co-creators, we reject power and hierarchy to affirm the knowledge, experiences, ancestry, and intersectionality of our community and invite you to reimagine our collective future in institutions of higher education and our world through Joy, Justice, and Leadership.

By co-creating spaces that prioritize Joy, we can cultivate resilience and hope, even in the face of adversity.

Justice serves as the foundation of our efforts, ensuring that every voice is heard and every story is valued. We explore how equitable practices can transform our societies, promoting inclusivity and dismantling systemic barriers.

Finally, we focus on Leadership as a shared responsibility, encouraging individuals to step into their power and contribute meaningfully to the well-being of others.

By choosing humanity—only then, are we able to uplift all individuals.

*Note on Terminology: Racial and ethnic identity labels abound and often are associated with time and a historical context. Adopted for the 2025 APAHE annual conference, the term Asian American Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) is predicated in the spirit of inclusivity amongst our Asian, Desi, and Pasifika communities and identities. APAHE’s intent is not to be dismissive of any other labels that are and have come before it. We are not a monolith. On the contrary, we acknowledge the complexity and diversity amongst and within us.

By choosing humanity—only then, are we able to uplift all individuals.

We value inclusion and access for all participants and are pleased to provide reasonable ADA accommodations for this event. Please contact apainhighered@gmail.com. Requests must be made by March 11, 2025.
